Brett Farve, who is a former NFL quarterback, said that he doesn’t want politics to be in sports. He said that he just wants to watch the game.
Keep Them Separate
With all that’s been going on this past year, the kneeling during the National Anthem, Brett Farve wants politics and sports kept separate. In an interview with “The Andy Klavan Show,” Farve said the following:
I know when I turn on a game, I want to watch a game. I want to watch players play and teams win, lose, come from behind. I want to watch all the important parts of the game, not what’s going on outside of the game, and I think the general fan feels the same way. [1]
Kneeling During The National Anthem
Later on in the interview, Brett Farve said that kneeling during the National Anthem has “created more turmoil.” [2]
Unification
Brett Farve also said that the flag helps unite us no matter the color.
Something has to unify us, and I felt like the flag, standing patriotically… [3]
Later Comment From Farve
On the topic of keeping sports and politics separate, Farve said that many people he spoke to didn’t watch sports anymore because of politics becoming entwined in sports.
I can’t tell you how many people have said to me, ‘I don’t watch anymore; it’s not about the game anymore.’ And I tend to agree. [4]
