Thayer, Mo. –The Thayer Bobcats football team went up against the Ava Bears in a highschool football game at the Thayer High School football field on Friday, October 9, 2020. To help them win the game, star quarterback Jayce Haven returned from a broken clavicle injury he received in the Jamboree game in August. [1]
First Quarter
The Bobcats started the game off with a touchdown from Jordan Madden. The Bobcats did not get the extra point. The first quarter ended 6-0.
Touchdowns Everywhere
In the second quarter, Lane Grimes, wide receiver for the Bobcats, ran in for another touchdown and quarterback Jayce Haven ran in for the two-point conversion.
With 7:31 left in the first half, Jordan Madden, running back for Thayer, ran in for another touchdown. Thayer got the extra point. The score at halftime was 21-0 with the Bobcats in front.
Halftime Performance
The Thayer High School marching band came out at halftime and entertained the crowd. The cheerleaders and color guard showed their skills to the rhythm of the music.
Bears Try To Come Back
In the third quarter with 2:56 left, the Ava Bears fumbled the ball, and Thayer recovered it. With 1:02 left in the third quarter, Jordan Madden ran in for his third touchdown of the night. The extra field goal attempt was made as well.
The Bobcats got a big interception at the goal line by linebacker Chris Cray. The Bobcats did not get a touchdown on that run. The Bears got the ball back, and Zach Richards ran in for the touchdown. The Bears did not get the extra point.
Bobcats Take The Win Home
On one of the Bobcats plays, one of the Bobcats players ran for thirty yards before being tackled. With 6:28 left in the game, the Bobcats got two touchdowns by running back Jackson Willison and quarterback Jayce Haven. The Bobcats also got a two-point conversion from Jordan Madden and the extra field goal point. The final score was 43-6, with the Bobcats winning.
Next Bobcats Game
The Bobcats are now 5-1. Their next game is on Friday, October 16, 2020, at 7:00 p.m. against the St. Pius X Lancers at the St. Pius high school.
