Thayer, Mo. –The Thayer Bobcats took on the Clever Bluejays on November 1, 2024, at Louis Bozman Field in Thayer. Despite a close first half, Thayer managed to pull ahead and win the game 37-7.
Close First Half
Although both teams were evenly matched in the first half, both had several fumbles. With 7:57 in the first quarter, Thayer made the first points of the game with a touchdown. The score at the end of the first quarter was 7-0 with the Bobcats ahead. Early on in the second quarter, the Bluejays also got a touchdown with a quick pass into the endzone. Both teams’ defenses kept the offenses from score until 2:59 when Dominick Boyce (#24 for Bobcats) made a touchdown. The score at halftime was 14-7 with Thayer in the lead.
Still A Close Game
The Bobcats started the second half strong with Heath Combs (#2 for Bobcats) making an interception only two minutes into the half. Four minutes later, Dawson Harris (#7 for Bobcats) ran into the endzone for another Thayer touchdown. Harris followed that up with a two-point conversion. The score at the end of the third quarter was 22-7, with Thayer still in the lead.
Thayer Closes It Out
In fourth quarter, Thayer closed out the Bluejays. Although the Bluejays had a good passing game, the Bobcats managed to shut them out and get more touchdowns. With 7:07 in the game, Harris had his second touchdown of the game. Around four minutes later, Zeb DuBois (#40 for Bobcats) added another touchdown for the Bobcats. The final score was 37-7 with Thayer taking the win.
Semifinals
With this win, Thayer advances on to the Class 2 District 4 semifinals against the number-one ranked Fair Grove Eagles in Fair Grove, Missouri. [1]
