Thayer, Mo. – The Thayer Bobcats went up against the Charleston Blue Jays on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Louis Bozman Field in Thayer for the Class 1 District 1 Quarterfinals. The Bobcats won 51-14.
Slow First Quarter
In the first quarter, for about eight minutes, the Blue Jays had a continual possession of the ball, although it didn’t end up as anything. With 1:40 left in the first quarter, Mark Spencer (#1 for Bobcats) got the first touchdown of the game. For the two-point conversion, Devin Harrington (#3 for Bobcats) pitched Mark Spencer the ball, who threw it to Rowan Spencer (#9 for Bobcats) for the extra points. Closing out the first quarter, Mark Spencer ran for about sixty yards for the Bobcats.
Bobcat Touchdowns
Just eight seconds into the second quarter, Rowan Spencer got the Bobcats their second touchdown. The score was now 14-0. Mark Spencer followed it up with his second touchdown of the game, with Harrington getting the two-point conversion. With 1:15 left in the half, Xavier Gonzales (#14 for Bobcats) recovered a fumble made by the Blue Jays. The score at halftime was 22-0.
Exciting Third Quarter
Two minutes into the second half, Harrington got his first touchdown of the game. With 9:50 in the third quarter, J Robinson (#21 for Blue Jays) got Charleston their first touchdown, making the score 28-6. Less than a minute later, Harrington got another touchdown, with Colt Gonzales (#10 for Bobcats) getting the two-point conversion.
More Good Plays
About halfway through the third quarter, Rowan Spencer had a long run, over twenty yards. Devin Harrington followed the play with another touchdown. Colt Gonzales got the two-point conversion. The score at the end of the third quarter was 44-6.
Closing It Out
In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats finalized the win. Colt Gonzales made another Bobcat touchdown. Robinson made the final Blue Jay touchdown of the game with only 1:21 left in the game. The final score was 51-14, with the Bobcats winning.
