Thayer, Mo. –The Thayer Bobcats football team went up against the Crystal City Hornets in a high school football game at the Thayer High School football field on Friday, October 30, 2020, for the District Tournament Quarterfinals. The Bobcats won 46-6.
Quick Touchdown
The Bobcats got a touchdown in the first two minutes of the game. Jordan Madden, running back for the Bobcats, ran fifty yards for the touchdown. The Bobcats missed the extra point attempt.
The Bobcats got another touchdown in the first quarter; this time from Jackson Willison, a running back for the Bobcats. The score was now 12-0.
End of First Quarter
The Bobcats got two more touchdowns before the first quarter ended. Thayer’s quarterback, Jayce Haven, ran twenty or more yards for a touchdown, and Landry Pitts ran in for the other touchdown. The score was then 25-0.
Interception For The Bobcats
In the second quarter, Chris Cray, linebacker for the Bobcats, intercepted the ball and ran down the field for a touchdown. Thayer got the extra point. With 5:07 left for the first half, Jayce Haven ran in for a touchdown. Haven also ran in for the two-point conversion.
Hornet Touchdown
One of the Hornets players dived into the endzone for their only touchdown of the game.
End Of First Half
The Bobcats also managed to fit in one more touchdown with 54 seconds left in the first half, by Jordan Madden. The score at halftime was 46-6.
Slow Second Half
Neither one of the teams scored in the second half of the game. With 9:34 left in the fourth quarter, the Bobcats fumbled the ball on the Hornets 1-yard line and the Hornets recovered it. The final score was 46-6 with the Bobcats winning.
Next Game
The Thayer Bobcats will go up against the Caruthersville Tigers in the District Tournament Semifinals on Friday, November 6, 2020, at 7:00 pm. [1]
