Thayer, Mo. – The Thayer Bobcats went up against the Liberty Eagles on September 8, 2023, at Louis Bozman Field in Thayer, Missouri. Despite Thayer’s best efforts, the Eagles won 36-16.
First Touchdowns
The Eagles got the first points of the game four minutes in. They made the two-point conversion. On one of the first Bobcat plays of the game, Gavin Reese (#7 for Eagles) intercepted a Bobcat throw which turned over the ball. Carter Pruett (#5 for Eagles) followed up the interception with a touchdown. The score at the end of the first quarter was 16-0.
Lengthening Lead
About halfway through the second quarter, Rowan Spencer (#9 for Bobcats) was taken out of the game due to a knee injury. The Eagles continued to score through the second quarter. Carter Pruett made his second touchdown for the Eagles with 2:45 left in the half. Gavin Reese of the Eagles also made a touchdown, closing out the half 30-0.
Eagles Last Score
The two teams held each other back throughout the third quarter, with nothing too exciting happening. The Eagles did manage to get a touchdown from Eli Moore (#14 for Eagles).
Bobcats Score
With 10:29 left in the game, Bobcats quarterback Devin Harrington (#3) threw to Xavier Gonzales (#14 for Bobcats), who was wide open; the result was a Bobcat touchdown. Mark Spencer (#1 for Bobcats) made the extra two-point conversion. Seven minutes later, Mark Spencer made the second Bobcat touchdown of the game. The final score was 36-16, with the Eagles winning.
