Thayer, Mo. –The Thayer Bobcats football team went up against the Salem Tigers on September 20, 2024, at Louis Bozman Field at the Thayer High School. The Bobcats won 68-0.
First Quarter
Four minutes into the game, the Bobcats got their first of many touchdowns, the first one coming from Heath Combs (#2 for Bobcats). A couple minutes later, Salem’s Tobey Gover (#25) had a good two good runs of 15 and 10 yards respectively. Colton Mills (#3 for Bobcats) got the next Bobcat touchdown. With 2:17 in the quarter, Combs made an interception. With seconds left in the game, Brandon Prince (#5 for Bobcats) made the third Bobcat touchdown. The score at the end of the first quarter was 24-0.
Extending the Lead
Thayer continued to add to their lead in the second quarter. Thomas Poole (#8 for Bobcats) and Heath Combs had two and one touchdowns respectively in that quarter. Salem had a costly fumble on one of the snaps that put them back 20 yards. The score at halftime was 46-0.
Not Too Much Action
Opening the second half, the third quarter did not have much action. The Bobcats got a safety against the Tigers as well as another touchdown.
Bobcats Win
Dominick Boyce (#24 for Bobcats) got a touchdown with 7:57 left in the game, as did Brendon Spencer (#1 for Bobcats). The final score was 68-0, with Thayer taking the win.
