Thayer, Mo. –The Thayer Bobcats football team went up against the Ava Bears on October 11, 2024, at Louis Bozman Field in Thayer. Thayer led the entire game and won it 34-8.
Slow First Quarter
The first quarter started off slow with neither team getting any points until the end when the Bobcats got a touchdown. Kiptyn Atkisson (#6 for Bobcats) had a good run during the quarter.
Points By Both Teams
In the second quarter, it started to get a little heated between the two teams. Xavier Gonzales (#10 for Bobcats) had a twenty yard run near the beginning of the quarter. He also made the second Bobcat touchdown of the game. With around a minute to go in the half, Kyle Pitts (#12 for Bears) caught a 30-yard pass and with a dive into the endzone, made the touchdown. The score at halftime was 14-8, with Thayer in the lead.
A Stalemate
In the third quarter, it looked as if the Bears might make a comeback as they were holding off the Bobcat offense. On three back-to-back occasions, both teams had to punt the ball because couldn’t move the ball. Zeb DuBois (#40 for Bobcats) had several good runs during the game, with one being for a 40-yard gain. The score at the end of the third quarter was 14-8.
Thayer Wins
To start out the fourth quarter, not even a minute int, Maddux Underwood (#0 for Bobcats) made an interception for his team. With 8:54 in the game, the Bobcats got another touchdown. Not even a minute later, Dominick Boyce (#24 for Bobcats) managed to get the ball from the Bears and return it for a touchdown. With 2:11 left in the game, Dawson Harris (#7 for Bobcats) made a quick pass to Brandon Prince (#5 for Bobcats) for another Thayer touchdown. The final score was 34-8, with Thayer taking the win.
