While the weather in Alton is spring-like, with temperatures in the upper 60s, that is not true for all of the United States. Another storm is hitting the west coast, causing travel delays and probable road closures.
Interstate 80
Moisture is coming into California Monday evening. This could only amount to under a foot of snow. However, NOAA is calling for strong winds, up to 100 mph at the peak of the Donner’s Pass. That moisture will travel across interstate 80, with snow in Nevada and even 15 inches of snow in Utah. The storm will continue to cross the country. Howbeit, forecasters are tracking this storm before issuing further warnings. The Utah warnings last through Wednesday.
Interstate 40
Meanwhile, if you think traveling west can be obtained by using interstate 40, you may want to think again. Snow is coming into Arizona Tuesday night through the end of the week. With heavy snow predicted, the roads through the mountains can quickly deteriorate, even with plowing. When roads close, hotels quickly fill up.
If possible, one may want to replan the route west. Interstate 10 does have warmer temperatures. Despite that, there are high elevations on the southern route, too. One may want to move a trip west off until March.
