Feeling Lucky? You Have A Double Chance At Seeing Shooting Stars Tuesday

A star filled night.

Alton, Mo. – Stargazers will get a nice view of shooting stars from July 28 to July 29, 2020. Two meteor showers will send shooting stars across the skies on Tuesday night, July 28.

When it will Be

The double meteor shower will be from Tuesday night, July 28, and into the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 29. The best time to see the meteor shower is at 1 a.m. local time.

Double Meteor Showers

Instead of just one meteor shower, there will be two: the southern Delta Aquarids and the Alpha Capricornids. There will be around 15 to 20 meteors per hour.

Fireballs

Even though the Alpha Capricornids is the weaker of the two meteor showers, it may be the most interesting. “What is notable about this shower is the number of bright fireballs produced during its activity period,” the American Meteor Society (AMS) explained. [1]

Fireballs are brighter than normal shooting stars and can light up the entire night sky. The fireballs can also be different colors since the brightness falls into the range of the human color vision.
