Alton, Mo. – On April 8, 2020, a storm hit Alton, Missouri. The storm brought lightning, thunder, rain, and some hail with it. There are also some tornado watches out tonight.
The Storm
Before the storm hit, you could feel that a storm was approaching and building up with the dark storm clouds and thunder and lightning. The hail started at approximately 6:20 P.M. The hail came crashing down for a short period of time. The hail was about the size of pebbles. Then with the hail still falling, the rain started to fall in torrents. The rain continued to fall for approximately five minutes, and then the rain stopped. The storm was gone as soon as it had appeared, leaving cool air behind. Before and after the storm hit, there were rainbows. Before the storm, there was a double rainbow, and after the storm, there was a single rainbow.
Tornado Watches
There is a tornado watch in effect until Thursday, April 9, 2020, at midnight per AccuWeather. There are several counties in this tornado watch including the following: Bollinger, Butler, Cape Girardeau, Carter, Crawford, Dent, Douglas, Dunklin, Howell, Iron, Madison, Maries, Mississippi, New Madrid, Oregon, Ozark, Pemiscot, Perry, Phelps, Pulaski, Reynolds, Ripley, Ste. Genevieve, St. Francois, Scott, Shannon, Stoddard, Texas, Washington, Wayne, and Wright.
